Rescue & Rehoming of Dogs
We operate as a dog rescue program for Ellis County, Dallas County, and the City of Ennis. We collaborate with shelters, animal control agencies, and residents to rescue animals in need, provide medical treatment, foster care, and permanent adoption. Our thorough screening and post-adoption support ensure lasting placements and relieve pressure on municipal systems.

Our sanctuary provides lifelong care to non-releasable animals such as small primates, guinea pigs, and chinchillas. These animals often come from confiscations or failed private ownership. We prioritize enriched, naturalistic environments and specialized care. CECDFW is currently pursuing Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS) accreditation to formalize our commitment to best practices.

Help Secure A Future for Critically Endangered Cotton-Top Tamarins
We’re working on a variety of initiatives to help stabilize the Cotton Top Tamarin population's abroad. These actions will help conservation efforts abroad, with the work that is being done locally.
Cotton Top Tamarins are one of the rarest primates in the world, with only 6,000 individuals left in the wild. They are critically endangered. Prior to 1976, over 40,000 cotton-top tamarins were caught and exported for the pet trade and biomedical research. They now face the danger of extinction, as a result of habitat destruction. They are only found in the lowland forest of northwestern Colombia; deforestation has reduced it down to 5% of its original size.
