Organizational Background
Creature Education and Conservation DFW (CECDFW) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to bridging animal welfare and environmental conservation. Our work began as a small animal sanctuary providing lifetime care for abused, neglected, abandoned, and surrendered primates, dogs, guinea pigs, and other animals in urgent need.
Over time, we saw clearly that the struggles facing individual animals are tied to much larger forces — from wildlife extinction to habitat destruction and the escalating climate crisis. This realization reshaped our mission into a grassroots effort that not only rescues animals, but also works to help people understand how global warming, biodiversity loss, and animal care are deeply interconnected.
CECDFW is powered by concerned citizens who have learned — often the hard way — how severe and urgent these issues are. We’ve built our knowledge from real-world experience and a commitment to sharing that understanding with others. Through community engagement, educational outreach, and direct rescue work, we aim to turn awareness into action.
In 2025, a local crisis demanded an immediate response: the only municipal dog shelter in Ellis County closed, leaving no county-run facility for stray or abandoned dogs. With no action from county leadership, CECDFW stepped in. We launched a dog rescue and rehoming program, partnering with community groups to save and rehabilitate stray, lost, abused, and neglected dogs. Our work addresses immediate animal welfare needs while also urging local officials to take responsibility for the residents — both human and animal — they serve.
Today, CECDFW continues to grow as a grassroots force for change, uniting rescue work, conservation advocacy, and public education to create meaningful, measurable impact for animals, people, and the planet.
MISSION
At Creature Education and Conservation DFW (CECDFW), our mission is to protect animals and the planet through hands-on rescue, sanctuary care, conservation, education, and bold environmental advocacy. We provide lifelong refuge for primates, guinea pigs, and other vulnerable species while working to restore ecosystems and halt extinction. Through education and strategic awareness efforts, we help inform national and global dialogue, support evidence-based environmental solutions, and contribute to a future where sustainable systems allow both humans and animals to thrive.

VISION
Creature Education and Conservation DFW envisions a world where empathy for animals ignites a global movement for environmental healing. We strive to be a model of excellence in small-scale sanctuary care, turning compassion into action by inspiring millions to champion animal welfare and defend nature’s future. Through bold education, relentless advocacy, and cross-sector collaboration, we aim to help shift federal policy and international cooperation toward systemic solutions that restore Earth’s climate and biodiversity to pre-industrial balance.
