Animal Sanctuary

Our growing animal sanctuary provides lifelong, compassionate care for animals such as new-world monkeys, guinea pigs, dogs, and other vulnerable species. Many of these animals come from confiscation cases, failed private ownership, or situations where specialized long-term care is required.

We prioritize:

  • Safe, enriched environments

  • Species-appropriate housing

  • Balanced nutrition

  • Veterinary and preventative care

  • Physical exercise & mental enrichment

  • Emotional wellbeing & social bonds

  • Individualized care plans

CECDFW is committed to achieving Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS) accreditation as our long-term benchmark of excellence.

ACCEPTING MONKEYS & PROSIMIANS

We accept new-world primates and select prosimian species on a case-by-case basis, evaluating each intake request carefully to ensure we can provide appropriate lifelong care.

DOG RESCUE INITITIAVE

We partner closely with the Pet Coalition of Ellis County (PCEC) and other community partners, to address the growing need for dog rescue, foster placement, rehabilitation, and rehoming since the closure of Ellis County’s municipal shelter.
Through community-supported efforts, we provide safety, medical care, daily enrichment, training support, and adoption opportunities for stray, abandoned, surrendered, and neglected dogs.

We are committed to:

  • High-quality daily care

  • Foster home coordination

  • Veterinary support & rehabilitation

  • Adoption placement & follow-up

  • Free dog-owner training workshops

  • Preventing future neglect & surrender

Please consider supporting PCEC at https://petcoalitionec.org — their leadership is transforming canine welfare across Ellis County.
